About us
HART is a coalition of faith communities, non-profits, businesses, agencies, and individuals, who are committed to finding solutions to homelessness in our local communities. In suburban communities like Carmichael, resources are largely, if not completely, absent. Carmichael HART is a local response that addresses these realities by developing programs that will help homeless men, women, and children.

Who we serve

Victims of family trauma
Trauma—physical, sexual, or emotional—is both a cause and effect of homelessness. Domestic violence forces many individuals, including children, into housing instability, often leading to long-term homelessness.

Youth in foster care transition
Youth aging out of foster care face high risks of homelessness due to a lack of financial stability, family support, and life skills. Many struggle to secure stable housing, leading to prolonged instability.

Individuals with mental illness
Severe mental illnesses can disrupt daily life, making it difficult to maintain housing, jobs, and relationships. Without proper care, many struggle to access support services, increasing their risk of homelessness.

Veterans with PTSD
Many veterans experience PTSD, unemployment, and substance abuse, making housing stability difficult. Limited access to affordable housing and healthcare leaves many without support, increasing homelessness.
